The coaching clinics are designed to help coaches develop a sound understanding of how to coach the event, building on the technical content presented on the Coaching Assistant and Athletics Coach Award.

These training and education opportunities are aimed to bring together coaches and their athletes to train and develop expertise in their respective fields of interest. The sessions will involve practical activities using athletes to demonstrate key coaching points with clear take home messages for both coach and athlete going forward.

Who will deliver: The session will be delivered by experienced, national-level coaches who will clearly and simply demonstrate how to develop efficient and effective techniques for Javelin.

who can attend

Coaches with a Coaching Assistant and Athletics Coach qualification (or equivalent).

Coaches can bring an athlete as a demonstrator on the day.


This workshop will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm


Places are free to scottishathletics coach members with a valid coaching licence.

Robert Wilkie

Robert is a UKA level 3 Performance Coach in Javelin. Over the years Robert has worked with some of Scotland’s bright and best young athletes in the event. Robert developed himself as a coach by travelling around the globe to work with some of the world’s best coaches.On the day, Robert will be supported by former England National Coach Mentor and British Athletics Team Coach, Mike McNeill.
